JOB TITLE:              Payroll & Benefit Specialist

REPORTS TO:           Chief Human Resource Officer

 

  1. JOB SUMMARY / OVERVIEW

Processes and interprets the payroll and benefit programs, performs related payroll, Human Resource and accounting functions; performs other related work as required.

 

  1. PRIMARY DUTIES

Every effort has been made to include all duties; however, the omission of a specific statement of duties does not exclude the duty from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment of the position.

 

  • Administers payroll processing procedures and maintains supporting files and documentation.
  • Processes garnishments as required by law.
  • Performs benefits administration to include communicating benefit information to employees, enrolling and terminating employees in plans and approving invoices for payment.
  • Maintains employee 403(b) participation data and ensures accuracy of data between payroll systems and 403(b) administrator.
  • Assists in maintaining human resource information system records and personnel files.
  • File quarterly unemployment report.
  • File quarterly 941.
  • Process end of the year reports including W-2 and 1095-C.
  • Assist with 5500 filing
  • Assist in non-discrimination testing of 403(b) plan.
  • Maintains copies of current state licenses, DEA certificates and other required documents for all licensed and certified staff. Notifies staff of upcoming expirations of certifications.
  • Maintain and conduct all matters in a highly confidential manner.
  • Has knowledge of internal HR processes including onboarding and termination
  • Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

 

  • EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School Diploma
    • Associate or bachelor degree in business or accounting preferred.
    • Minimum of three years experience with payroll processing

 

 

  1. EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
  • Proven experience with payroll processing.
  • Must have the ability to receive, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Required to read, write, and speak English.
  • Strong computer and systems skills including MS word and excel.
  • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize work load.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
