JOB TITLE:       MEDICAL SCHEDULER

REPORTS TO:    BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER

TYPE STATUS:  FULL TIME

1. JOB SUMMARY / OVERVIEW

• To assist patients in scheduling medical appointments.

1. PRIMARY DUTIES

• Answers the phone in a pleasant and courteous manner;
• Schedules medical appointments;
• Handles patient reminder phone calls;
• Works at reception desk area for breaks, meal times and until 6:00 p.m., as needed;
• Responds knowledgeably to inquires from patients, medical staff, and other staff;
• Ensure messages are handled in a precise manner;
• Accept payment on patient accounts over the phone;
• Verify and update demographic information for patients;
• Maintains strict and total personnel and patient confidentiality;
• Verify and balance all payment each day;
• Other duties as assigned.

III.       EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.

1. EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

• Experience in the health care field is preferred.
• Demonstrate initiative and function independently.
• Demonstrate attention to detail.
• Ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively present information to others.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Must possess knowledge of general office procedures.
• Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills by dealing effectively, in a positive and professional manner, with a variety of people by telephone and in person.
• Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to speak or understand Spanish is helpful.
