What Your Role Requires
JOB TITLE: RECEPTIONIST
REPORTS TO: BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER
- JOB SUMMARY / OVERVIEW
- Maintain cordial and welcoming environment for all who enter PSHC. Ensure all patients check in upon arrival and their information is updated in the practice management system.
- PRIMARY DUTIES
- Welcome all patients in a pleasant and courteous manner.
- Maintain cordial, welcoming ambiance for all who enter PSHC.
- Check patients in and check patient out when needed along with assisting in scheduling additional appointments.
- Be an advocate for our patients by addressing patient’s questions or concerns quickly, effectively and professionally.
- Verify and maintain current patient information in the practice management system (address, phone number, current insurance, etc.)
- Collect payment for co-pays, nominal fees, collection balances at check-in based on the procedures and guidelines provided.
- Ensure messages are handled in precise manner.
- Contact medical records if a patient needs to complete a Request of Information (ROI).
- Verify and balance all payments each day.
- Other duties as assigned.
- EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- One year experience as a receptionist is preferred.
- Experience in the health care field is preferred.
- Demonstrate initiative and function independently.
- Demonstrate attention to detail.
- Ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively present information to others.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must possess knowledge of general office procedures.
- Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills by dealing effectively, in a positive and professional manner, with a variety of people in person and by telephone.
- Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to speak or understand Spanish is helpful.
