JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: CHIEF CLINICAL OFFICER (CCO)
REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
- JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
- To oversee the clinical operations of the organization including supervision of nursing, occupational medicine, and referrals.
- PRIMARY DUTIES

- Communicates vision, values, critical goals, and expectations of the organization to the internal constituents, external partners and others.
- Assist in the implementation, functioning and monitoring of the Patient Centered Medical Home model as well as collecting and reporting the information through NCQA
- Assist in the functioning of ACO and its requirements
- Responsible for developing standards/framework for clinical performance for the nursing and occupational medicine staff
- Responsible for the planning, organizing, developing and directing the organization’s nursing and other clinical functions.
- Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization, being articulate and poised with well-developed presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Responsible for coordinating with leaders and staff within the organization to develop processes that provide improved outcomes for the patients.
- Responsible for developing and implementing plans for the provision of patient care, patient care initiatives, and policies and procedures that delineate how patient care needs are assessed and met.
- Acts on behalf of clinical and nursing services
- Exercises authority over those associated with the provision of clinical treatment and services.
- Maintains visibility and relationships with employees, coaching and developing performance.
- Communicates expectations for staff at employee orientation, and throughout the employees’ tenure.
- Responsible for the quality of services within the nursing and occupational medicine departments, by determining benchmarks, goals and outcomes for all programs;
Focuses on problem resolution using strategies such as Plan, Study, Do, Act (PDSA) to identify strategies for excellence in clinical care and patient satisfaction.
- Partners with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to increase clinical quality and efficiency.
- Responsible for the long-term view of care delivery including capacity, environment, use of technology, role of the healthcare professional, caring attitude of staff, and operation flow to maximize the patient experience.
- Analyze cost effectiveness of care, making adjustments to provide high quality with the concern for cost to the patient.
- Participates in system-wide planning, organizational development/structure and implementation process.
- Responsible for performing any such duties as may be necessary in the best interest of the organization and/or as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
III. EDUCATION/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
- Must have active Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive leadership experience.
- Experience with developing, planning and implementing programs.
- Strong leadership, managerial and time management experience.
- Financial experience, including knowledge of budget and profit/loss statements.
- Must have excellent grasp of the English language; reading, writing and speaking abilities.
- Intermediate computer skills.
